On the day that Jeffrey Dahmer was murdered in prison Libertarian
candidate for the Presidency of the United States, Harry Browne, was
interviewed by Detroit's WXYT talk show host Mark Scott in the 11 o'clock hour of
his 9-Noon slot.
Subjects included in the interview were the size of government, GATT,
free trade and Michigan Senate hopeful Jon Coon, whose candidacy in
1994 failed to garner the requisite 5% to get the party on the next
ballot.
The sloppy writing on the cassette is
that of a young radical named me! I was a liberal for about 2 weeks
before I started listening to talk radio and was easily convinced on the
insolvency of leftist idealism. 100 years of Progressivism in America
has turned us into a second-rate country in a world of third world
hellholes.
Scott, as some of you might know, was controversial for his various stances including support for fired Detroit police officers Larry Nevers and Walter Budzyn in the beating death of Malice Green, his scathing critiques of Bill Clinton and many supposed conspiracy theories. In other words he was the Alex Jones of his time.
In 1987 he left WXYT (he later returned) for WWJ and fired after 10 days for saying the words N-lover, the K word, and other racial slurs when describing the names that he had personally been called as a talk show host. Since he was a supporter of Israel and had Jewish friends he was regularly called a Zionist shill. I was witness to one such incident at the end of his career when he was broadcasting from WCHB. And I still remember it to this day because I was pulling into Kroger and somebody called him a Zionist shill. Scott absolutely lost his mind and berated the caller as a piece of SH**. A remark which evaded the censors, if there were any, and he apologized profusely after the commercial break.
